Pediatric
Pelvic Floor Therapy
A functional, holistic approach to your child’s bowel & bladder function.
Many times, pelvic floor issues (such as the conditions outlined) can align with sensory processing disorders/challenges, neurological issues, orthopedic or mobility-based challenges, and even just plain old potty training!
Our pelvic health occupational therapists are here to make sure kids are getting the care they need when it comes to their pelvic floor, because it’s an incredibly important part of the core & body!
-
We treat bladder & bowel dysfunction in pediatrics. This means that we often treat constipation, bedwetting, potty training difficulties, accidents that are either occurring at an older-than-typical age or more frequently than not, and medical issues that may involve the pelvic floor. Many kids who are neurodivergent or have sensory issues (autism, ADHD, etc) as well as children with urology, gastroenteric, or neurological conditions can benefit from pelvic floor therapy.
-
While adult-based pelvic floor therapy often involves intra-vaginal or intra-rectal assessment & treatment, pediatrics does not. We are, however, able to externally palpate pelvic floor muscles to make sure that they’re functioning correctly. When indicated, a skin & perineal assessment may also be beneficial in helping us to address what’s going on with your child’s bowel or bladder issues.
We work with your family to functionally improve your child’s pelvic health through core strengthening & coordination, nutrition, strategies to improve interoception & sensory-based challenges, and positioning throughout the day to assist in toileting.
-
We work with children from toddlerhood through adolescence.
-
We happily working with you and your child in our bright, beautiful clinic space or in your own home! Either way, you’ll be in the hands of one of our compassionate and experienced pelvic floor occupational therapists who specializes in pediatrics.

1000%! We believe that every neurodiverse child (i.e. autistic, ADHD, anxiety) sees & interacts with the world differently, and we’re not interested in changing that through compliance-based strategies.
We do, however, want to make sure that your child’s bowel & bladder function is healthy. We help you create & maintain strategies to help your child’s pelvic health!
